20 Things You Didn't Know About Drive

19. Ryan Gosling Speaks Just 116 Lines In The Entire Movie

Many were caught off-guard by just how quiet Drive is, or rather, how few words are spoken by Gosling's protagonist throughout the film.

The Driver generally speaks more through loaded glances than verbose monologues, and to that end Gosling speaks just 116 lines throughout the entire 100-minute runtime - that's barely a line a minute.

Better yet, Gosling says a mere 891 words in total, amounting to an average of just 7.68 words per sentence, again confirming just how terse his character truly is.

Hiring one of the hottest rising stars in the business only to keep him quiet for most of the movie is a bold move, and while it didn't go over well with everyone, it's a choice that mostly works.
